Ryan Jones (5) shot 74 at his home club Peel GC in the morning and, having warmed up, was the runaway winner of the Capital International Castletown Cup at the links on Saturday afternoon.
Birdies on the par five 3rd and the Road Hole helped Jones turn at two under. Bogeys from bunkers on the 11th and shortened 17th resulted in a lovely level par round. After handicap, Jones was on his own on nett 67, three better than the field.

Praising a putting lesson, Ernie Russell (19) covered the front-nine in just three over par for 25 of his 40 points to win the Neville Peterson Memorial. Nett eagles on the 3rd and 5th holes contributed twenty percent of his total which came from just 15 scoring holes as Ernie failed to rustle-up points on the ‘un-four-gettable’ 18th.

Recently returned from golfing with his son Scott in America, Duncan Donald may have been ‘California Dreamin’ when he left his putts short. Never-the-less, Donald converted enough to win the Suntera-sponsored monthly medal at Castletown GC on Saturday.

Eclipsing all others, Jon Wagstaffe (11) just shaded the Golf Foundation Stableford at Castletown Golf Club on Saturday. His seven-over-par round converted to 40 points and included birdies on the 3rd and 6th. On the rare occasions that Wagstaffe missed a green, his superb short game came to the rescue.
