POSITIVE PLANS FOR OLD HOTEL SITE

MJ Abbott staff testing the sprinklers on the Road Hole. The new course irrigation system is now complete.

Future plans for the development of the old Castletown Golf Links Hotel site were outlined by the new owners Philip and PJ Vermeulen of Langness Golf Course Ltd who, over six months ago, purchased the site from Fort Island Developments Ltd which is part of the Dandara Group.

in an update issued to CGC members during the week it was stated that, CCJ Group has been appointed to undertake the hotel demolition which will commence when the associated application is approved. Haras fencing will enclose the site and there will be some parking restrictions for safety reasons.

After removal of soft materials, much of the demolished buildings will be crushed on-site to be used as footings for a new hotel. All work will be undertaken in compliance with ASSI and planning regulations.

The update went on to say that, in collaboration with Manx BirdLife (which thanks to the generous support of Langness Golf Course Ltd and Nature Vannin Ltd acquired 60 acres on the Langness peninsula) there is a collective effort to create a lasting positive impact in the area. Signage along the road to the driving range has helped protect nesting areas and we’ve seen a welcome increase in ringed plover numbers.
