LADY CAPTAIN'S DRIVE FOR SUCCESS

The lady captain’s drive-in took place on Sunday and Belinda Pilling’s drive was hampered by a jester's hat, which refused to stay in place, and a tinsel wrapped club shaft which was far from aerodynamic. Consequently, Brigette Thomas’s perceptive, pessimistic prediction came closest to the distance driven.

Having completed the opening hole in six shots the supporting ladies were invited to beat that score by employing a putter to drive with and a driver for putting. This was all in aid of ‘Forget Me Not’, which, for the second year running, is the captains’ chosen charity.

There was a tie between Jill Holiday and Sarah Blackman which had to be settled by a putt-off on the practice green which was handy as that was where the mince pies and coffee were being served. Jill Holiday wielded the long stick with elegant ease to claim premier position.
