Castletown Golf Club’s AGM took place at the newly named ‘Salt & Swing Golf Bar’ at Langness on Saturday afternoon. All nominations were passed unanimously. The new captains, Richard Dunn and Belinda Pilling promised to uphold the values inscribed on the batons passed to them by the outgoing captains.
Those values being: Protect – Include – Progress – Engage. Michelle Hooker with Belinda Pilling sporting her new captain's jacket
The new vice-captains Phil Games and Claire Walker, together with Dan Williams - who had been proposed by the president Barry Watts - were also appointed to the board. One vacancy remains and former captain Maryann Dunn’s appointment will be ratified at the board meeting immediately following the AGM.
Presentations were made to the outgoing captains Roger Raatgever and Michelle Hooker. During their speeches they thanked all those who helped and supported them during their year of office. Our generous sponsors, Andi Howland, the course owner Philip Vermeulen and his family, Colin in the pro-shop, the green staff and our artisans were specifically mentioned. So too was your humble hack, which was appreciated.
‘Forget Me Not’ which funds dementia support in the Isle of Man continues as the captains’ combined charity.
Over £7,250 has been raised during the year and a further £850 will be donated as a result of Mark Simpson - shown above (with Richard and Maryann Dunn and Belinda Pilling) auctioning off the car parking space he had just won in the charity raffle. The outgoing men’s captain must particularly appreciate stress-free parking as his was the generous winning bid.
